4tex bowls, also known as vortex bowls, have a small smoke outlet (chimney) in the middle of the bowl. The smoke outlet has 4-5 holes on the side through which the steam passes through to the hookah. Compared to other tobacco bowls, vortex bowls do not have any other holes near their bottom and are better able to retain the moisture in the tobacco.
Vortex bowls are widely used and are now one of the inveterate standard bowls for hookahs, along with funnels and multi-hole bowls. They are available in different shapes, colours and materials in a wide range of price classes.
Due to the special hole position for the air draught, they can hold moisture in the tobacco better, which on the one hand reduces the risk of burning and on the other hand keeps the hookah better clean. In addition, the fact that the holes are on the side of the smoke outlet means that aluminium foil is not sucked in so easily and the air passage remains free - even if the foil should sag a little.
